A picture of Stuart Evans

Stuart Evans

Landscape, seascape and the history of mid Wales are what inspire me. Living in mid Wales and understanding more of how people have worked with the land stems from a forty-year career as a designer at Ceredigion Museum. Recently I have been fascinated by the variety of ways in which boundaries and borders have been made using stone, slate and hedges.

Besides painting and drawing I became interested in ways of expressing myself through printmaking. I was one of the founder members of the Aberystwyth Printmakers and serve as a director.

I completed an MA at Aberystwyth University School of Art in printmaking and since retirement, from the museum, have had more opportunity to explore both the landscape near my home on the cliffs at Borth and new ways of making images through etching and lino printing.
